Summit Forestry Services is able to provide many other services for their clients.  Some of these are as follows:

Timber inventories, appraisals and/or valuations.  A “cruise” can be done of your properties trees.  On larger properties a cruise consists of measuring a small sample of the trees and then extending this information over the whole acreage.  On small properties, it may be possible to measure all the trees greater than a certain size.   The information can be used for: building permits, timber volume estimates, harvesting planning, timber valuation, timber appraisals, or any number of purposes.

Reforestation.   Planning, managing and implementing plans to re-plant/re-stock property with trees.  This may be as simple as plant some trees on the property.  Or more complicated as removing unwanted vegetation, ordering site specific seedlings, property seedling storage, using a planting contractor, and planning follow-up treatments to control the unwanted competing vegetation that will re-invade the site.

Wildfire rehabilitation.  Usually a timber salvage operation is needed and then the area can be reforested.  Often times there is cost-share money to help with this operation.

Vegetation management and herbicide recommendations.   Peter Walden is a licensed Agriculture Pest Control Advisor (PCA) with the State of California.  A plan can be developed to control, eliminate, and/or manage any undesirable vegetation on the property through mechanical, chemical, and/or animal means.

NEPA documentation.  Much of Karen Walden’s experience in the USFS involved NEPA planning and implementation.  This included smaller timber projects, to large scale Environmental Impact Report preparation.

CEQA documentation.  All projects in California have to meet California Environment Quality Act (CEQA) requirements.  This may involve a timber harvest permit on forested land for cutting commercial trees.

Timber Management Plans.   A plan can written for a forestland property to evaluate timber, water, visual, archeological, recreational, residential, developmental, etc. resources of the property.  This plan may be used for many purposes such as : harvest planning, land use planning, or documenting what is on the property.

Aerial Photo analysis and timber typing.   Summit Forestry Services can use existing stereo-pair color aerial photography, and/or digital Ortho color photography to analysis and document the vegetation and developed resources of the property.
